A first step towards the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report (AR7), the call for experts for the Scoping Meeting concludes
The Italian Focal Point for Italy has collected over 45 nominations in response to the call for experts for the Scoping Meeting for the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report (AR7). The background of the nominated Italian experts encompasses the entire climate science process from predictions to impact adaption and mitigation.
The IPCC issued a call to select experts for the Scoping Meeting for the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report (AR7), tentatively scheduled in December 2024. The meeting will focus on producing a draft outline for the report in the form of a Scoping paper. The IPCC Focal Point for Italy acted as an intermediary between Italian affiliated experts and the IPCC Bureau, forwarding nominations from eligible candidates for evaluation.
As the call concluded, over 45 nominations were received by the IPCC Focal Point, setting the first step towards participation in the Scoping Meeting. The results were extremely positive and the nominations included expertise across the entire climate science field, ranging from climate predictions to adaptation and mitigation policies and reflecting the scope of the different Report Working Groups.

The nominations will now be evaluated by the IPCC Bureau which will confirm the selected candidates in the coming months.
