The IPCC Call for experts on Carbon Dioxide Removal and Carbon Capture concludes
The Italian Focal Point for Italy received 10 suitable nominations to be relayed to the IPCC Bureau in response to the call for experts to participate in the Scoping Meeting for the Methodology Report on the Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage. The background of the nominated Italian experts broadly covers the range of expertise required for the nomination.
A call for experts to participate in the Scoping Meeting for the Methodology Report on the Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage was issued by the IPCC. The Scoping Meeting will be held tentatively in the second half of October 2024 and follows the request extended during the 60th IPCC session to update the 2006 Guidelines for the preparation of national inventories.
The IPCC Focal Point for Italy forwards nominations to the IPCC Bureau on behalf of Italian-affiliated candidates for evaluation. The call was successful and 10 nominations were forwarded to the IPCC, with candidates covering a wide range of fields including bioenergy, biochar, market instruments, carbon dioxide removal, engineering, forestry and agrifood, sustainable land use, CO2 capture technologies, direct air capture, ocean alkalinisation, mineral sequestration, GHG inventories standards, ecosystem services, biogeochemical cycles, ecophysiological processes, and ecological economics.
The nominations will now be evaluated by the IPCC Bureau which will confirm the selected candidates in the coming months.
